Boko Haram Trying To Provoke Religious War – Bayelsa Speaker

The Speaker of the Bayelsa State Assembly, Hon. Nestor Binabo, yesterday warned the Federal Government and the Nigerian people of the plot by the Boko Haram to provoke a confrontation between Muslims and Christians in the country with the rising cases of bomb attacks on churches.

The Bayelsa Speaker, who made the comment while speaking with newsmen in Yenagoa, the state capital, described the bombings that killed scores of Christians in Madala, Niger State, and other parts of the north on Christmas Day as callous, and? coming from a group with a sinister motive to divide the country.He, howevr called on Nigerians to resist such attempt.

Binabo said though the Federal Government was trying to stem the ugly trend of rising cases of attacks, but warned that if the trend continued, it was capable of provoking a religious war that could lead to the disintegration of the country.

He wondered why Christians that went to church to pray for the unity of the country were mercilessly attacked and killed in cold blood, saying “it has become a religious war.”
