Eagles: I’m Not Impressed Yet – Keshi

After the home-based Super Eagles managed a slim 1-0 win over an Abuja selected side in their build-up for the Nations Cup qualifier against Rwanda, in February, coach of the team Stephen Keshi has said he is not yet impressed with their performance.

Keshi who played two different teams in each half tutored them for the first time since his return from Ghana where he went for the CAF Footballer of the Year Awards.

Parading the likes of Okemute Odah in goal, Azubuike Egwueke in the defence line, Bathlomew Ibenegbu in the midfield and and Kalu Uche in the attack along side Sunday Mba, the Eagles had plenty of possession but again finished poorly.

The only goal of the match came in the 42nd minute when Kalu Uche’s run from the left flank, was finished by Mba to the delight of Keshi and his technical crew. The second half with a new set of players led by goalkeeper Moses Ocheje saw new comer Papa Idris and 22 year youth corps member Stephen Morah shine like a million stars. Izu Azuka impressed in the midfield but the Eagles failed to increase the goals tally as the Abuja X1 refused to be intimidated. Keshi after the game told the players he was encouraged but not impressed yet. He said the players will have work to earn his praise as they prepare to file out this morning against Ranchers Bees of Kaduna at the main bowl of the Abuja National Stadium.
