Adamawa: PDP Rigging Allegation, Sign Of Fear – CPC

As the January governorship election in Adamawa State approaches, the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has descibed as a sign of fear the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the CPC is planning to rig the election.

In a press statement signed by the party’s chairman, Hon. Ibrahim A. Waziri, and made available to newsmen in Yola, the CPC said the allegation was wild and laughable, and that it is the PDP that is reputed for rigging elections.

He said: “The attention of the CPC, Adamawa State Chapter, has been drawn to newspaper publication credited to the chairman of PDP, Adamawa State chapter, Mr. Umaru Kugama, alleging that the CPC is planning to rig the 2012 gubernatorial election in the state.

“While this allegation is wild and laughable, it is common knowledge among the electorate in Adamawa State that the PDP is the king of all rigging and electoral malpractices, hence the voters, who said they are tired of the bad governance of the PDP under Governor Murtala Nyako, have vowed to ensure that there is no place for rigging in the January 2012 election.

“It is this fear of the determination of Adamawa voters to fight the PDP and Governor Nyako’s planned rigging that makes them jittery and uncomfortable with General Marwa’s stature and acceptability by Adamawa State electorates irrespective of class, religion and ethnic affiliations.”?
