LP Senator Defects To ACN

Senator Robert Ajayi Borrofice, who represents Ondo North Senatorial District under the platform of Labour Party(LP), yesterday defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN).

? During the event at his ward at Oka Akoko, Borrofice said that he could no longer remain in the ruling party in the state due to its factionalisation along various interests.

He also berated the leadership style of the state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, saying he ran the state like a one-man dictatorship.

Speaking with journalists at his Oka Akoko residence shortly before he defected to ACN, Borrofice said that? the leaders of thought had been completely sidelined under the present state administration, and averred that he would work with his new party to free the people of the state from bondage.

He further stated that there was the need to harness the wisdom of the leaders? and combine it with the energy and vision of the present Yoruba leadership to transform the geopolitical zone to a modern society.

Explaining that he did not join the ACN solely to run for the forthcoming governorship election in the state, the senator, however, said: “Although, if there is a divine call for me to serve this state as a governor, why not.

“Nobody planted me in ACN to destabilize the party as it is being erroneously rumoured in some quarters. This is the handwork of mischief-makers; this satanic lies is a calculated attempt aimed at eroding my credibility and it will not work,” he said.

The senator? hinted that he did not just decide to leave the Labour Party, but that he had tried several times to intervene in the crisis that had polarized the party, and that all his efforts were abortive? before he decided to defect.
