Gov. Okorocha Attributes Country`s Challenges To Lack Of Effective Communication

Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo on Friday attributed the country`s present challenges to lack of effective communication between the governors and the governed.

He said in Abuja that “when a nation stops communicating, it starts to build division”.

“There is a big communication gap between the governors and the governed, and we must go back and communicate right to the ordinary people.”

He added that there was need for governments to begin to communicate more with the governed to get them properly informed on government `s intended policies and programmes.

According to him, this will put the governed in a better position to know why governments have to take certain decisions.

He added that if there was an effective communication, it would be easier to govern the people and to ensure development.

He, therefore, suggested that government should go round the six geopolitical zones to sensitise the people on happenings in the country, and steps to be taken.

Okorocha said that such action would make the people understand what government was doing and why certain decisions were being taken.

He, however, said that Nigerians must all work together to promote the country’s unity while they prayed for her development.

He called on Nigerians to see Federal Government`s policy to remove full subsidy and to deregulate the downstream sector as a necessary policy to move the country forward.

He added that the country was in a trying period which it would overcome with time, adding that people had to only be diligent and prayerful to God.?
