Commonwealth Condoles Nigeria Over Kano Attacks

Mr Kamalesh Sharma, Commonwealth Secretary Secretary, on Tuesday condoled with Nigeria over the Friday bomb attacks in Kano.

A statement made available in London said Sharma and the Commonwealth community also expressed its sympathy to those affected by the “dreadful attacks”.

It stated that the Commonwealth would stand in solidarity with the Nigerian government “as it mourns the loss of its citizens and works to address the challenges posed by terrorism, extremism and insecurity in the country.

“The Commonwealth's shared view is that conflict and differences should be resolved, and indeed, can only be resolved sustainably through inclusive dialogue built on the foundations of mutual understanding and respect,” it stated

The statement said that the perpetrators of the “despicable crime” had shown callous disregard for the lives of their fellow citizens and for the peace, stability and progress of the country
