Security: Group Urges Nigerians To Seek Reconciliation

The Arewa Youth Forum yesterday charged Nigerians to pursue forgiveness and reconciliation as the basis for achieving maximum national security and overcoming security threats.

The forum which was reacting to series of criticisms against the appointment of the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, said that such criticism should not arise now that the country was facing serious security challenges .

The forum in statement made available to LEADERSHIP and signed by its National President, Gambo Gujungu reads: “We have been watching with keen interest the unfolding reactions heralding the appointment of Mohammed Dikko Abubakar as the Inspector General of Police.

“The latest was from the Northern chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), which described his appointment as an extension of terrorism and national insecurity on the account of his stewardship when he served as Commissioner of Police in Plateau State.

“Though, we are not joining issues with CAN and others criticising Abubakar’s appointment, but the facts are that Nigeria as a country, and its people are going through turbulent times.

“It is also gladdening that the Police Service Commission( PSC) has cleared him of all the allegation, and attested to his competence, integrity and professionalism”.
