Don’t Be Scared, Aliyu Tells Niger Residents

Niger State Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has called on residents of the State not to panic over any rumoured attack by any group, even as he said that the presence of soldiers on the street helping to curb crises was not good for the country.

Aliyu stated this yesterday when he received leaders of some ethnic groups resident in the State at Government House Minna on a solidarity visit over the January 11, 2012 crisis in the State.

The assurance from the Governor was coming on the heels of series of threat text messages sent to residents of the State by unknown persons on possible attack on the residents.

The governor said the information being passed round was meant to create unnecessary panic and therefore urged the people to live in peace.

Governor Aliyu said: “nobody should frighten us, we should not be afraid of them, we should now resolve to police one another and pray to God to get rid of the bad ones among us.”
