Forum Berates Oritsejafor Over IGP’s Appointment

The Patriotic Nigerian Muslims/Christians Peace Forum has berated the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, for his comments on the appointment of Alhaji Mohammed Dikko Abubakar as Inspector General of Police (IGP) and said that it was not in the best interest of Christians.?

Bauchi State President of the Forum, Munir Babangida Manchok, in an interview with newsmen, yesterday, said that Oritsejafor’s comments were a clear indication of his weakness to lead a sensitive religious body like CAN.

Manchok enjoined people in that capacity to always use their position to preach peace, wondering why the clergyman rushed to the media to make unguarded statements. This was just as he called both Muslim and Christian clerics to restrict themselves to matters that would pave way for sustainable development in the country.

The forum posited that Abubakar’s appointment was based on merit, credibility, good track of records and his wealth of experience on security issues having served successfully as Police boss in various States and was an AIG before being elevated to the new rank.
