The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is ready for the conduct of bye-election into Mashi constituency of Katsina State Assembly, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Umar Wara, has said.
The Mashi seat became vacant following the death of its former occupant, Surajo Mashi, after a brief illness, on December 12, 2011.
Addressing a stakeholders’ meeting on the level of preparation for the election, Wara said the commission had begun arrangements to ensure a hitch-free election and assured that adequate measures had been put in place.
“We have started making adequate preparations in terms of logistic requirements, recruitment of personnel, training, provision and deployment of security personnel to all the polling units and collation centres,” he stated.
