‘We Lost 12 To Kaduna Explosions’

Three months after the explosion that rocked Kaduna, the victims of the blast yesterday disclosed the? death toll? at Oriapkata spare parts market.

The victims, who put the death toll at 12, said they lost about N300 million worth of goods to the explosion.

The disclosure contradicts the figure by Police and the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) who had put the number of those killed during the incident as five.

Speaking to Journalists in Kaduna, the victims lashed out at government which has failed to redeem its promises to them, saying “not even food was given to us as relieve, not to talk of financial assistance. “

Speaking on behalf of the 23 victims who signed the text, Mr. Fabian Uzochukwu said: “12 people were killed as a result of the explosion and they have been buried.

Till today none of the deceased families have been visited by government nor has any form of compensation, not even food have been given to the families now living on charity with friends and relations.”

According to the victims “We lost 14 shops and all the goods in them burnt to ashes. From what we have calculated the goods were worth N300 million.
