Boko Haram Did Not Target IG’s House –Police

The Kano State Police Command has said that the house of the acting inspector- general of police, Muhammad Dikko Abubakar was never attacked by the suspected Boko Haram sect members, saying the attack was on policemen who were on foot patrol and not the house, a statement by the command's PPRO, Magaji Musa Majia said.

“For emphasis, the IG’s house was never targeted. What happened was purely an attack on four policemen on foot patrol, along BUK road who, despite the gallant resistance put up by the patrol team, two of them lost their lives in a gun duel,’’ the statement said.

Majia also said the story that the IG’s house was targeted “is not only misleading but capable of raising tension and apprehension in the state, the Nigeria Police Force and the nation,” adding, “It is therefore surprising how you depicted that the IG’s home was targeted.

It further said, “In order to put the record straight, the command requested for an immediate retraction of the headline to reflect the actual sequence of the incident as issued by command’s press statement.’’
