Minister Petitioned Over Alleged N1.1bn Fraud In College

Kontagora Emirate Youth Development Association (KEYODA) in Niger State has written a petition to the Minister of Education, Prof. Rakkayatu Rufai, to investigate the allegation of fraud concerning over N1.1billion grants to the Federal College of Education (FCE) Kontagora by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETF) in the 2009 special intervention projects already executed.

Mika Anache & Company,? the solicitor of the association in a petition dated 18 February, 2012, and made available to LEADERSHIP called on the minister to look into the alleged misappropriation of the funds released without any work to show for it.

The Petition read in Part: “That between 25th November 2010 and 1st June 2011, Federal College of Education Kontagora received from TETF the sum of N779, 477,612.35. That the completion period for the projects was July 2011 and that up till now no single project has been completed”.

According to the association, work on the project was not commensurate with the money released? while alleging that? the? Council members shared the contracts for the execution of projects among themselves as against the procurement Act 2007.
