Unknown armed gunmen, yesterday, unleashed attacks on military personnel and marine police formations along the creeks and waterways of Brass and Nembe Local Council areas of Bayelsa State killing four policemen and four personnel of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF), which include the Commanding Officer of the Brass Unit, Lt. Col. A.Malik.
Few hours before the killing of the Police and Military personnel, some unknown youths launched a multiple dynamite attack on some spots along the Opolo and Biogbolo areas of the State along the same stretch of road with the headquarters of the Joint Military Task Force and the private residence of the State Governor, Hon. Seraike Dickson.
LEADERSHIP gathered that while the killing of the four policemen occurred at the Marine Police Check Point in Nembe River at about 7am, the attack on the Senior Military Personnel and the Two Naval ratings occurred at the Okpoma River junction at about 10am on their way to Ogbia Waterside.
