PDP Holds Congresses In Anambra, Kaduna

The PDP in Anambra has vowed to reclaim the state from the ruling APGA in coming elections.

Sen. T.A. Adudu, the Chairman of the PDP Ward Congress Committee in Anambra, made the declaration, while addressing party supporters in Awka on Saturday.

He said that efforts were being made to reconcile the various factions of the party, as part of strategies to win the state.

Adudu, who led the five-member committee to Anambra for the congress, noted that Anambra was primarily a PDP state before it was lost to APGA.

?“We must work for the success of the ward congresses to enable the PDP to control the state’s affairs again.

?“We must bury our differences and work together to ensure the fulfilment of our party,” he said.

Adudu stressed that his committee was committed to conducting transparent ward congresses across the state, calling on aspirants and their supporters to make collective sacrifices.

The last PDP ward congresses in the state, which were organised in 2010, ended in stalemate, following the factionalism of the party.

In Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State, all the party officers were returned unopposed to run the party’s affairs for the next four years.

Alhaji Gambo Lawal, the Secretary of the Ward Congress Committee in Ikara council area, made this known to newsmen, shortly after announcing the polls’ result at Ikara, the local government headquarters.

Lawal, who is also Kaduna State’s Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, said that the decision to return the contestants unopposed was due to the party members’ understanding.

“I am happy to inform you that PDP in Ikara Local Government Area is very united. We are all working toward a common goal: the success of the party, not of an individual,” he said.

He commended the PDP members in Ikiara council area for their loyalty, understanding and commitment in efforts to promote the growth of the party and the local government area.

Lawal solicited the support of the people of the local government area for the current state administration.
