‘Street Parking Management, Part Of Abuja Master Plan’

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Platinum Parking Management Services (PPMS), Otunba Olusegun Olarewaju has said that? street parking management was in the Act that created Abuja as a Federal Capital City (FCC).

Speaking in an exclusive chat with LEADERSHIP yesterday, the CEO revealed that street parking management which was recently introduced by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) was to stop illegal parking in the city.

He said, “The purpose is to sanitise parking management and parking arrangement on our roads. If parking is not being managed properly, manpower will be lost through illegal parking. There will be mayhem on the roads.”

According to the Park and Pay helmsman,? the pilot phase of the on street parking management, which was being practiced in advanced cities in the? world, had yielded tremendous results and would be replicated in Abuja.

“What we’re trying to do, is to sanitise illegal parkings everywhere in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Look at the whole Tigris, Aguiyi Ironsi, in Maitama which had been a no-go-area in the past, you can drive through the road now within seconds. Before it used to be double parking, triple parking everywhere on the road, nobody cares, but now the area is sanitized.
