One person was confirmed dead and another injured when a storey building under construction at NITEL Training School Cappa, Oshodi, Lagos, collapsed on Thursday.
The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Mr Joseph Jaiyeoba, confirmed the incident in an interview with newsmen.
Jaiyeoba explained that the victims were workers of an Abuja based company, named Bukola Concept Nig. Ltd., Abuja, carrying out reconstruction works on the building.
The police spokesman, who said that the incident happened at about 9.00 a.m., disclosed that the deceased, Matthew Adesuji, was found dead under debris while the second person was pulled out alive.
He said that the police were on the trail of the contractor that escaped from the scene of the incident.
Jaiyeoba said the contractor had escaped arrest and that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti, Yaba, has taken over the case for investigation.?
