Woman Attempts Suicide As Business Site Goes Down

A middle aged woman (name withheld) who, purportedly, was protecting her property from being pulled down by the Owerri Capital Development Agency (OCDA) on Port Harcourt road, Owerri, on Thursday, attracted a scene when she attempted suicide by jumping into the building that was being demolished.

LEADERSHIP Investigation revealed that the woman who operated a block molding business on the site marked for demolition had set up the business with her benefits after retiring as a school teacher.

The timely intervention of the task force of the OCDA prevented the demolition exercise from turning gory as they rescued her immediately from the debris.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of the agency, Cyprian Amako, said that the agency would no longer condone illegal and unauthorized occupancy by any citizen of the State.
