‘We’re Pressurising Buhari To Contest In 2015’

The Anambra State chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change(CPC), Chief Chuba Ikeagwu has stated that it took the pressure of stakeholders of the party and friends of General Muhammadu Buhari to convince him to come out for 2015 presidential election.

Ikeagwu in an interview with journalists yesterday said that friends and stakeholders of the retired General and the CPC approached Buhari to convince him to put behind him his inability to clinch the position of the president in the 2011 general election, but to give it another try in 2015.

On how much impact Buhari will make in the 2015 presidential election having failed? in 2003, 2007 and 2011, Ikeagwu said that with the right party like CPC, Buhari would succeed in 2015.

?“Remember that CPC was less than one year old when it went into the last presidential election, yet it garnered over 12million votes according to INEC. Now, we have worked very hard, and here in the South East, every home now know about CPC.

“General Muhammadu Buhari is a peaceful Nigerian, and it is his right to contest for the 2015 presidential election. We approached him because we do not see PDP leading this country anywhere. Nigerians have seen that PDP lack the vision to lead us, so we had to go and plead with Buhari to come back again and contest”.

Ikeagwu told journalists that Buhari was the face of CPC, and it was only right to plead with him to contest again. He stated that it does not mean that the party would not accept other candidates, saying that Buhari was a lover of internal democracy and that other politicians who wish to contest on the platform of the party would be encouraged to do so.

It would be recalled that General Muhammadu Buhari had recently stated his readiness to contest the 2015 presidential election.
