Seven pension administrators operating in Niger State may soon be blacklisted by the state government following?? poor service delivery to pensioners and contributors to the contributory pension scheme.
The Director General (DG), state pension board, Ahmed yahaya Benu,? who gave this indication yesterday in an interview after touring the offices of the pension administrators, said the state government would not compromise the welfare of her pensioners and civil servants.
Benu said the board has also received series of complain from pension contributors on service gap, as it concerned accessing basic information about their contributions, a situation which? led to the? visit of the board? to? all the 17 pension administrators operating in the state.
He said the visit was to ascertain their capacity in service delivery, but noted that seven out of the pension administrators were found to be inefficient in rendering quality service to their clients because of problems ranging from inadequate manpower, office equipment and poor office location.
Consequently,? he stated that the state government would made all its findings known to the head offices of the pension administrators with the view to intimate their respective? offices on the need to standardize their service delivery.
Benu stated further that failure to improve within the next one month would leave the board with no other option than to blacklist the pension administrators.
Asked of the defaulting pension administrators, Benu declined to list the names of the affected pension administrators.
He said that the state government had committed N 27 billion for servicing both the old and new pension schemes in the state.
