Kidnapped Banker Regains Freedom After Paying N25m Ransom

Mr Yemi Odusanya, the Regional General Manager, Access Bank Plc, Lagos, who was kidnapped on April 22 regained his freedom on Thursday after the family paid N25 million ransom.

A reliable police source, who pleaded anonymity told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, that the police were not involved in the payment of the ransom to the alleged kidnappers.

However, the state command's spokesperson, SP Joseph Jaiyeoba, confirmed that Odusanya was released by the alleged kidnappers at about 5.30 a.m. at the gate of the Victoria Garden Court, Ajah, Lagos.

NAN reports that the victim was kidnapped on Sunday morning by gunmen near New Life Baptist Church, Lamgbasa, Lagos.

Jaiyeoba said immediately after the incident, the command mobilised its operatives for a thorough investigation of the matter.

According to him, the operatives were unable to trace the suspects until the victim was released.

He, however, blamed communication gap between the family and the police on the inability of the operatives to track down the kidnappers.
