Rotary Commissions Borehole, Library At Kpaduma

The Rotary Club of Asokoro has commissioned three projects, a motorised borehole, six-unit toilets and a library, for Kpaduma community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The projects were commissioned yesterday by the incoming chairman of Rotary Foundation, Wilfrid Wilkinson.

Wilkinson, who was in Nigeria to represent the chairman of the Rotary Foundation at the Rotary District 9125 annual conference, described the projects as typical of Rotary philosophy.

“I’m satisfied with the projects. I hope Nigerians will identify with Rotary by becoming members. We have so far concentrated on polio, but various clubs still embark on other humanitarian projects. Water is life and cleanliness is the key to avoid diseases,” he said

The president of the club, Nze Kanayo Chukwumezie, said the club adopted Kpaduma because concerned authorities had abandoned the community.

“We met Kpaduma in dire need. We made some need assessment and adopted it to give succour to the inhabitants. Our mission here has been accomplished,” he said.

The chief of Kpaduma, Fayemi Kareyi, expressed joy over the projects and called on Nigerians to join the club.

The governor of District 9125, Lawrence Okwor,on his part, called on other clubs in the district to embark on people-oriented projects to better the lots of the people.

The facilities were executed by the club in conjunction with Rotary Macomb District 6460 USA.
