In order to strengthen the ongoing probe into petroleum subsidy by the House of Representatives, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Dr. Lateef Adegbite has called for a judicial panel to adjudicate on the report.
?Adegbite made the call while speaking with newsmen at the installation of his wife,Modinat, as Iyalode Adinni of Ibarapa land at Tapa in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State yesterday.
He said only the constitution of the panel can solve the controversy surrounding the House probe.
Adegbite, who is also the Chairman, Presidential Committee on Public Awareness on Security and Civic Responsibility commended the House for the probe, but affirmed that, “the Judicial panel will allow for whatever meanings any individual or group will want to read to the report.
“I want the federal government to set up a judicial panel to look into the Oil subsidy probe to sort out the controversy and discover who is liable to be punished. And I want to say as a legal practitioner that the judicial commission should be set up and headed by either a serving or retired judge with proven integrity and experience.”
?Reacting to question on whether the panel will not bring confusion , Adegbite said nothing of such would happen.?????????????????????????????????????????????
? “It cannot bring any confusion. The House has done its part, but there is need for an independent legal panel to sit to further clear any doubt.”????????????????????????????????????????????????

In his address, the NSCIA scribe, who was also the chairman at the occasion said there was need for the Nigerian Muslims to review the situation in the country and re-strategize “to ensure they get what is due to them. In this regard, Muslims must take education seriously so that their children can be better trained and qualified to take key positions in the country. We should discard any superstition that discourages receiving education, particularly of the girl-child.”
?He also charged the government at both the federal and state levels? to avoid policies and decisions
that? discriminates against the Muslims. “A policy posits the North as Northern Muslim area and the South as? the Southern Christian area is wrong and erroneous. Such? a policy puts Muslims, particularly Muslims in the South west who are in majority at a disadvantage. Many
a time when appointments are made, South west Muslims are overlooked.”
