The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has clarified its stance on the alleged plate number probe, saying?? that its action on the matter was within the law that set it up.
This development is sequel to a publication on the said subject matter? by this newspaper? dated May 6, 2012 and entitled: “Plate Number Probe: Stakeholders Want Corp Marshal Sacked.”
In a statement made available LEADERSHIP? yesterday, the Commission said the story as published was a total misrepresentation of facts as the reporter digressed from the contents of the interview granted by the out-going public Relations Officer of the Commission, Mr. Nseobong Akpabio.
The Commission stated that at no time was it aware of any alleged contract won by the Corp Marshal and Chief Executive of the FRSC, Mr. Osita Chidoka, to supply and install CCTV Cameras and solar panels on Abuja roads as alleged in the story.
It also said that the FRSC Act 2004, on which the story based its argument, has been repealed and replaced with FRSC Establishment Act 2007.
The statement also described, as falsehood, the claims?? that stakeholders were not carried along in the new number plate exercise, stating that position papers were presented at a public hearing on the subject matter.
