The Sokoto State Police Command yesterday confirmed that two persons were killed in Marina area of the town during an attack by robbers.
The victims were one Inspector Ahmed Saidu and a civilian who was also killed by a stray bullet.
Briefing newsmen yesterday in Sokoto, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Musa Aiyu, said the attack on the police was a robbery attack and not a terrorist attack as speculated.
The commissioner appealed to the people of the area to remain calm as the situation was now under control.
