Delta Govt Begins Survey Of Public Schools To Check Enroachment

Delta Gpvernment has commenced the survey of?land belonging to public secondary schools to stop encroachment by private developers.

Mr?Patrick Ferife,?Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development told the?News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba that?so far, 120 public schools in the state had?been surveyed.

He also said that the ministry through the Office of the Surveyor-General of the state had carried out the exercise for ministries, parastatals and government agencies.

Ferife?said that the layout survey of residential and commercial plots?of government land?in?Asaba, Kwale, Agbor, Oleh and Owa-Alero had been carried with about 1000 plots surveyed.

The commissioner said?that the?mapping of the state had been completed, including that of?five major cities in the state.

Ferife?told NAN that the ministry had so far generated more than N554 million as revenue for the government from 2011 to date.

He said that more than N257 million had been paid as rents on properties within the same period by the government through the ministry. (NAN)
