Mr Kassim Gaidam, the new Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo,?? said that INEC would deploy 20 commissioners to monitor the July 14 governorship election in the state.
Gaidam made this known during a familiarisation visit to the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ in Benin on Thursday.
He said all the commissioners would be pulled from outside Edo for the election.
The commissioner also said that the election would be witnessed by the highest number of local and foreign observers in the electoral history of the country.
He said the ballot papers and serial numbers that would be used in the 18 Local Government Areas would be different.
The commissioner pointed out that members of the NYSC and students of tertiary institutions in the state would be involved in the election.
He said no fewer than two vehicles would be deployed to each local government to complement those of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Gaidam said that the deployment of the vehicles was to ensure that INEC had enough vehicles for the exercise.
He said the logistics problems and other hiccups usually associated with electioneering would be tackled.
He said INEC Legal Department was already studying the court judgment banning it from using collapsing ballot boxes for the election.
The commissioner said that soft copies of standard voters’ register would be presented to the seven political parties on June 14.
