Jonathan Woos Austrian Investors

President Goodluck Jonathan says Nigeria is open to greater investment by Austrians in critical sectors of the economy, including power generation.

The President said on Thursday during an audience with the Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister of Austria, Mr Michael Spindelegger at the State House, Abuja.

“We want to end the era of our people generating power for themselves. We are fully committed to stabilising and boosting public power supply.

“We know that unless this is done, we cannot stimulate economic growth the way we want with the development of more small and medium scale industries,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Spindelegger led an Austrian trade and investment mission to Nigeria.

The President also received the outgoing Malaysian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Mustafa Ahmad and thanked the envoy for enhancing the relations between Nigeria and Malaysia.

He also commended Ahmad for facilitating the training of ex-Niger Delta militants in his country under the Federal Government’s Amnesty Programme.
