Man In Court For Allegedly Setting Shariah Court Ablaze

The Katsina State Police Command has arraigned one Ahmad Musa before a Katsina Chief Magistrateas' Court III for arson.

Musa was accused of burning down the Funtua Upper Shariah Court on June 4.

Police prosecutor Okolo Usman told the court that the accused carried out the offence at about 7:45am contrary to Section 337 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor said as a result of the action of the accused, the building and all documents of the court were completely burnt.

Chief Magistrate, Alhaji Nuraddeen Jikamshi, had asked Musa whether he understood the charge against him to which he answered in the affirmative.

The plea of the accused was however not taken, but the magistrate directed that he be remanded in prison custody.

Jikamshi adjourned the case to July 12, for further mention
