Community Leader Advocates Intelligence Gathering For Village Chiefs

The community leader of Masaka in Nasarawa State, Ambassador William Yaji, has said that for government to overcome the security challenges in the country, village chiefs must be trained on intelligence gathering.

Yaji stated this in Abuja yesterday while speaking with our correspondent, saying that it is very necessary considering their close relationship with the people.?

According to him, President Goodluck Jonathan should go beyond the security agencies in curbing the menace of Boko Haram which has become a daily affair in the country.

“As a ruler, if you know that the security situation is getting out of hand, you must consult wide. You don’t need to depend mostly on the security men. Though they are trying, but village heads have a lot to contribute because of their relationship with the people at the grassroots,” Yaji said.

He, however, said that the president should look for a solution to incessant bombings in the North by calling on the traditional rulers, politicians, religious leaders and other stakeholders to talk to their people so that peace can reign.

Yaji called on aggrieved youths in the country not to take the law into their hands and avoid reappraisal attack, adding that Nigeria is the only country we have. ??
