Corps Member Promotes Computer Literacy, Donates Laboratory

History was made recently with the commissioning of a modern computer Laboratory. The event took place at Government Junior Secondary School Kana Agwada, Kokona Local Government area of Nasarawa State. The computer laboratory was a project which was built by a corps member, Mr. Chukwuemeka Kalu as his community development service to the secondary school of the community.

Speaking on why he chose the project, Mr. Kalu explained that he had the vision to positively impact lives and realising that the children of the school do not know much about computer, he decided to donate a computer laboratory to them.

“To affect lives, I want them to be computer literate. They are willing to learn but do not have the facility but with this laboratory now, there is hope and opportunity for them as the world has gone digital.”

The elated principal of the school, Mall Usman Kana was seen celebrating and dancing with cultural dancers at the event which was graced by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Nasarawa State, Mr S.A Alabi, Bar Musa Edekudu, Mal. Abubakar E. Kana, the principal, GSS, Loko and many others.

The modern computer Laboratory named after an illustrious son of the community Alhaji Abubakar Kana, the Odagyo of Eloyi.

Bar. Abdulkarim Kana, who donated the computer laboratory said it was borne out of his desire and commitment to the academic upliftment of students of the school and as a community development service as one of the cardinal objectives of NYSC.
