Incentives, Sale Of Voters Cards Thrive Ahead Of Edo Election

Tension loomed yesterday night as some unscrupulous politicians bought election voter’s cards between N40,000 and N30,000 from the electorates depriving them of exercising their right by voting for candidates of their choice.?

Those who spoke to LEADERSHIP WEEKEND in a telephone interview disclosed that some political gladiators in Uromi, Irrua and Ekpoma who claimed to be party faithfuls canvassing for votes engaged in buying voter’s cards from electorates while also supplying incentive materials like food items, wrappers and slippers.

According to Samson Okoduwa, who resides in Irrua, a trailer of food items arrived yesterday in his community to be disbursed to women and men of the locality ahead of the election. Slippers and bags of rice were among incentives shared to them last night.

He added that there was tight security in the state in order to prevent election riggers.
