HOS, 2 Commissioners Locked Out Of SEC Meeting In Benue

Fear gripped the Head of Service in Benue State, Mr. Mike Iordye, and the Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Mr. Benjamin Ashaver, and that of Sports, Mr. Aondowase Chia, yesterday, when they were locked out of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting at Government House, Makurdi.

The Head of Service and the two commissioners had arrived late for?? the SEC meeting when they learnt?? that Governor Gabriel Suswam had ordered that they should not be allowed into the cabinet hall due to his new move to curb redundancy and unseriousness among his executive members.

The governor’s action was as a consequence of their reported unseriousness to keep to time during SEC meetings and to serve as a big lesson for all top officials of the administration to raise their pace in the conduct of government affairs.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Governor Suswam had, on Tuesday, at Igbor Village, during the official flag-off of fertiliser and chemicals distribution, warned that he was not going to tolerate any act of irresponsibility from anybody, no matter how highly placed, and that anyone caught engaging in any unsatisfactory behaviour would be sanctioned.

It was learnt that the Head of Service, Mr. Iordye and the commissioner for Sports, Mr. Chia, had quickly left the Government House when they were denied entry. Only the commissioner for Works and Transport, Benjamin Ashaver waited till the end of the Executive Council meeting which lasted for about two hours.
