PDP Councillorship Primaries In Argungu Marred By Violence

The Peoples Democratic Party councillorship primaries in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State which held on Tuesday were marred by violence that involved two factions of the party.

The clash between the factions headed by Alhaji Salihu Ahmed K C and Alhaji Musa Kalle Baraya led to the stoppage of the exercise. At Felende polling unit, an electoral officer of the PDP was beaten and stripped of his dress.

The violence erupted when it came to the notice of Alhaji Musa Kalle’s faction that the Argungu Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Musa Dagwaya had allegedly connived with the party electoral officers to? go to his house and fill the forms in favor of Alhaji Salihu Ahmed KC’s candidate declaring him winner.

According to an eye witness who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, as a result of the failed attempt by the Local Government PDP chairman and the electoral officers, member representing Argungu/Augie federal constuency, Honourable Garba Musa, suggested the use of his farm located along Sokoto road for the exercise.

As the scenario was unfolding at the farm, the rival faction got wind of what was happening, stormed the farm and beat up the electoral officers who ran for dear lives leaving their vehicles behind.

While the whole side show was going on, the electorates who turned up in their numbers and waited patiently in the sun were told that the electoral officers were at Hon Musa’s farm engaging in dirty deal.
