The Nigeria national basketball team, D’Tigers will today meet another great basketball playing country Argentina in a make or mar encounter. The Nigerian team had sensationally won its first match but lost two subsequent ones against Lithuania, world’s 5th best team and the United States in a humiliating scoreline 156 to 73 points.
In the Group A pairings where Nigeria is paired against USA, Argentina, France, Lithuania and Tunisia, the Argentines are placed second behind group leaders USA. Team USA have won all their three matches amassing 243 points for their efforts in statistics.
The Argentines on the other hand are second with 258 points for their efforts so far.
The encounter which takes place at 10.15pm at the Basketball Arena may either futher break the Nigerian team’s spirit should they lose or give them an historic opportunity to dvance to the next round which is the quarter final should they win.
Nigeria is placed 5th on the table trailing, the USA, Argentina, France and Lithuania. D’Tigers are however above the Tunisians who have lost all their three matches so far.
