Kogi: Protest Trails Commissioner’s Death

The? Ponyan community in? Kogi State have staged a peaceful protest over the sudden demise of Mr. Simon Ige Olutimayin,one of the newly appointed commissioners in the state.

LEADERSHIP gathered that hundreds? of youths of the community, came out chanting war songs as well as raining curses on whoever was behind the death of their leader.

The protest almost took another dimension when some of the youths made attempt to raze down a house belonging to one of the politicians in the area, whom they said contested the commissionership position with the late Mr. Olutimayin.

However, the elders waded in to calm the situation, even as security agents were said to have whisked the man? to Lokoja, to ensure his safety.

Olutimayin who died last week Tuesday in a private hospital in Lagos could not be sworn-in as a result of his ill health.

Although he was assigned to oversee the budget and planning ministry, he could not report to office as he was said to have collapsed during a church service.
