Meanwhile, the price of chicken has soared in Kano?because of the Sallah?festival.

A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) check showed that locally bred chicken cost about N1,100 while broilers cost N1,400 and above.

The check also revealed that the price hike resulted from higher demand for the fowls, which were being preferred to prepare the meals for the Sallah.

Malama Nuriyya Saleh, a customer at the Wambai market, decried the sudden increase in the price of chicken which, she said, was inflated due to the Sallah festival.

Malam Mahe Salisu, a chicken seller at Sharada poultry market, said that the increase was not their fault.

He blamed the?situation on increased transportation costs, saying, “we also have to increase our prices to be able to make some profit.”?(NAN)
