The FRSC unit commander added that the accident happened around 9.45pm, stating that apart from the five deaths, 10 other passengers were seriously injured.

“The five dead persons have been deposited at Bishop Shanahan Hospital Nsukka mortuary. The injured were also rushed to the same hospital”.

While attributing the accident to night travel, he? warned? commuters to desist from such in their own interest especially during “ember months”.

“If it were in the daytime, that accident would have been averted. Big truck drivers should always allow small cars to pass without necessarily blocking the road; this results in accident most times', he advised.

Another? source told our correspondent? that the accident was caused by “overtaking and the stubbornness of the truck driver, who refused to give way for the Carina to pass”.

“It was indeed a horrible sight because all the five young men in that Carina car died on the spot. Many passengers in the bus sustained serious injury”, he said.
