Sharks Reinstates Obuh

John Obuh has been reinstated as Sharks FC technical adviser of Sharks FC following the decision of the Rivers State Ministry of Sports to place all members of the club’s technical crew on indefinite suspension.

Daboere Dokubo was placed in charge of the team following the move but the ministry now claims that Obuh was never suspended. Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Fred Igwe said Obuh was not affected by the exercise. Igwe said he ‘personally invited Obuh from his national assignment to come instill discipline as the head coach of Sharks which he did promptly’.

Former chief coach of the team, Imama Amapakabo described the news as ‘a clear case of confusion and witch-hunting exercise’. “This is a clear case of confusion and witch-hunting exercise. It also shows great confusion within the fold,” Amapakabo told supersport.com.

The former Kano Pillars goal keeper also wondered why Obuh was suddenly allowed to continue while other members of the technical crew were still placed on suspension. “Make no mistakes about this; I respect (John) Obuh as he is a good man and a great coach but then any sensible mind will ask why the commissioner took close to a week before saying (Obuh was not affected by the exercise).

“Also, why are the other members of the technical crew still on suspension? This is just a case of victimization,” he said.

Last week, it was announced that the members of the technical crew of Sharks and several members of the playing personnel had been placed on indefinite suspension for ‘anti club activities’ among others.
