2015 Presidency Not On My Mind — Yakowa

Kaduna State Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa has kicked against speculations of his ambition to run for the presidency or governorship election in 2015, saying they were the handiwork of mischief-makers.

Governor Yakowa, who stated this while fielding questions at a New Nigerian Newspapers Forum in Kaduna, yesterday remarked: “That is the height of mischief and mischief makers; they are at work. I want to align myself with Mr President in his last media chat. Please, we should not be talking about 2015, especially me here in Kaduna.

“The three things I mentioned to you – security, peace and development – what I can do in the time that the people of Kaduna State have given me, is my top priority now.”

According to the governor, “for people to start associating me with 2015 is the height of mischief and reckless politicians who, when they don’t have things to do, go and hold meetings and say all sorts of things. But certainly, Patrick Yakowa is not thinking of even governorship.

“I have not even spent half of my first term, and someone is talking about 2015 and the presidency; it is unfortunate. But I can see it is the people that have nothing to do and they want to drag people’s name into the mud, clean them up with their bosses and so on. You can’t get that from me,” the governor declared.

He said he is one person who is very grateful to God because “if there is anybody who has held appointments in this country, I have. So I am ever grateful to God. So, please,? those who are talking about 2015 and the Presidency, not here; let them look elsewhere or look for another issue to use to blackmail, but definitely not this issue” he reiterated.
