Woman Secures Divorce Due To Harassment By Husband’s Girlfriends

An Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos on Friday dissolved the 13- year-old marriage of a trader who claimed that ?her husband’s girlfriends regularly harass and beat her.

‎?The Court President, Mrs Risikat Ekerin, dissolved the union between? Itunu Williams (34) and Ahmed (36), a disk jockey.

Ekerin said that the court could not save the marriage because it had broken down irretrievably, ?

She said that the custody of the three children of the marriage would be determined by the Family Court.

?She ordered that the man should pay N15,000 monthly to the woman– through the court– for the feeding of the children, pending the determination of their custody.

Itunu had told the court on Aug. 6 that she was no longer interested in the marriage.

?“All his girlfriends harass me when they see me; some beat me.

“One of his girlfriends threatened to kill me. She used the police to arrest me last year. It was later that I heard that the lady had a child for my husband,’’ she said.

Itunu, who resides at No. 1, Mount Carmel St., Owutu, Ikorodu, also submitted that Ahmed beat her at the slightest provocation.

She said that she packed out of?her matrimonial home because of battery.

In his response, Ahmed, who resides at No.14, Dayo Oluyemi St., Asolo, Agric, Ikorodu,?did not deny the allegations.

He, however, asked for forgiveness from Itunu.

He had hugged and begged Itunu for forgiveness in the court but she insisted on divorce, NAN reports.(NAN)
