After two days of suspending its domestic operation due to aviation union disrupted activities, Arik Air was yesterday given a go-ahead to resume its operation.
The airline suspended its flight operation on Thursday, following scuffles between it and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) over alleged N 84.5 billion debt owed by the airline. The regulators of the aviation industry; theFederal Airport Authority of Nigeria, Nigeria Airspace Management Agency and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority had accused Arik Air of being indebted to them, an accusation the airline denied.
The scuffle between the parties had culminated in FAAN grounding Arik Air’s operation, which led the airline to suspend all domestic operations, leaving hundreds of its passengers in Abuja and Lagos stranded.
Meanwhile, at a joint news conference presided by the Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr. Harold Demuren, Arik Air was given a go-ahead to resume operations, while it was advised to desist from mudslinging.
