The police in Delta on Monday said they arrested a 20-year old murder suspect at Ogume Community in the Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Charles Muka, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba.

He said that the suspect's arrest was in connection with the murder of one Mr Benjamin Chegwe, the Director of Personnel Management in the Isoko North Local Government Area of the state on Sept. 30 on his farm.

Muka said that “the suspect was arrested at Onitsha with a bullet wound in his stomach through painstaking investigation.

“The police also arrested the doctor treating the suspect and the two suspects are helping the police in their investigation.’’

Muka also said that efforts were on to arrest other fleeing suspects, adding that the they would face the wrath of the law.

He recalled that the deceased, in his petition dated Sept. 29, complained of alleged destructive activities of cattle herds on his farm.

Muka said “the deceased was visiting the scene on Sept. 30 with a patrol team when they were ambushed by the herdsmen who later shot the DPM.

“The DPM was confirmed dead in the hospital.’’
