Police Arraign Man, 25, For Allegedly Stealing Iron Rod Valued At N1.5m

A 25-year-old man Eduka Onoha was on Tuesday arraigned before an Abuja Magistrates’ court for two counts of criminal breach of trust and theft.

The prosecutor, Insp. Egwu Clement, told the court that on Sept. 11, Usman Dauda of Life camp, Jabi reported the case at Life Camp Police Station.

Clement said that sometimes in August, the complainant entrusted his iron rods in his building site at Jabi, valued at N 1.05 million to the complainant to guard.

He said that the accused stole the iron rods and kept them in an unknown location which contravened the provision of Sections 312 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The accused pleaded not guilty of the offence, saying the 12 Iron rods were not up to the amount ??claimed by the complainant.

The magistrate, Mrs Sadiya Mayana, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250, 000 and two sureties in like sum.

Mayana said that the sureties must be?civil servants, not below grade level 10, and must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

She adjourned the case to Nov. 22 for hearing. (NAN)
