Senate Donates N22m To Flood Victims

Senate, yesterday, resolved to donate N22 million to victims of the flood. 10 principal officers in the red chamber will produce N3 million, while the other 99 senators will contribute N18m.

Rising from a closed door meeting, the President of the Senate, David Mark said that the senators have agreed to contribute N200, 000 each per senator and N300, 000 naira each of the leaders.

“The contributions are towards alleviating the sufferings of our people in the region. I want to thank you because as individual senators you have made contributions but this donation is truly a trail of your patriotism and the way you feel about the disaster across the length and breadth of this country”.

Meanwhile, Senator Gyang Nyahu Shom Pwajok, representing Plateau North was sworn in as a senator of the Federal Republic. He replaces, Sen Gyang Dantong who was killed recently.

Speaking with newsmen after the plenary, he vowed to continue with the peace initiative of Sen Dantong and added that he will endeavour to improve the image of the zone.
