Gunmen on Monday kidnapped the mother of a lawmaker, Rep. Abudu Balogun, (ACN-Ogun) in Ijebu Water Side in Ogun State.
It was learnt that the lawmaker`s mother, Alhaja Obedatu Balogun, was abducted? at about 9:30 p.m. at her? residence in Ita-Otu in the Ijebu-Water Side Local Government Area of the state.
Reacting to the incident, Balogun who is the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Internal Security, confirmed the abduction in a telephone interview with reporters in Ijebu-Ode.
The lawmaker described the incident as too painful for him to bear.
Balogun saidthat? what himself and the entire members of the family needed was prayers on how the woman would return safely.
When contacted,? the Public Relations Officer? of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, said the command was yet to be informed about the incident.
Adejobi assured, however,? that the police would swing into action immediately details of the abduction were reported to the command.
