Sultan Seeks Renewed Commitment To Security, Development

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged the three tiers of government to strengthen their efforts on security and other developmental strides.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Abubakar made the appeal yesterday in Sokoto in his Sallah message to the Muslim Ummah in the country.

Through the Magajin Rafin Sokoto, Alhaji Rilwanu Bello, the Sultan said the pursuit ofpeace and unity should not be left to the government alone.

The monarchhowever commended the Federal Government for its programmes aimed at ensuring even development in the country.

He appealed to Nigerians not to waste their farm produce harvested this year and advised the farmers against selling them to middle men.

“We should pay Zakat appropriately and duly. Farmers should also intensify efforts on massive dry season farming. As the harmattan season is also approaching, we should exercise caution in the usage of fire and protect ourselves and our children,” Abubakar said.
