The Independent National? Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced plans to facilitate free, fair, credible and transparent elections in 2012.
This was revealed by the chairman of the commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, when the President of International Foundation for Electoral System Mr. Williams Bill Sweeny, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
Prof. Jega stated that preparations were ongoing to ensure a free, fair and credible election in 2015.
He said: “Preparation are now picking up for 2015. We have done strategic planning process and we have the organization planning process which we have virtually completed and we are about to begin its implementation. We have virtually done all the in-house consultation and we hope that by first week of December, we will be able to have stakeholders’ input for validation of the planning. By 2013 we will start the whole process of implementing the plans.”
