Kaduna Will Witness Tremendous Development – Yakowa

Gov. Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State on Wednesday said the state would witness tremendous development in the next three years of his administration.

Yakowa said while inspecting road projects in Kaduna that the state would witness transformation in education, health, power and other infrastructure before 2015.

The governor appealed to the people to exercise more patience, and to continue to support the government, especially in the sustenance of peace in the state.

He said the inspection was to ensure that the road projects were executed according to specification.

Yakowa added that the government had employed the services of consultants to supervise all the 31 road projects awarded in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the projects inspected by the governor include the Katuru- Sardauna Crescent, Romi-Karatudu, Narayi-Bayan Dutse, fourth bridge and WAEC-GGSS-College-Lafiya roads.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Sulaiman Richifa said the 4.5 km Romi-Karatudu road project was awarded at the cost of N922 million and would be completed in 12 months.

He said the 4.1km WAEC-GGSS-College-Lafiya road would cost N512 million, adding that 25 per cent mobilisation had been released to all the contractors.

A traditional ruler, Sa Gbagyi, Dr Danjuma Barde said the roads would link various communities and facilitate economic activities in the area.

Barde commended the government for the project and advised residents to safeguard public property provided them.

He appealed to the contractors to employ the services of youths in the area at various stages of the project's execution.
