Evil Spirit Remark: Official Takes Blame

The Deputy Director/ Head of Media, Ministry of Power, Greyne Anosike has admitted lying against the Minister of state for power, Hajia Zainab Kuchi, by claiming in his press release that she had said evil spirits were behind Nigeria’s unstable power supply while addressing some South African investors in her office.

He said that it was him and not the minister who made the now controversial statement.

Anosike’s response is coming on the heels of outburst that has greeted the remark which has been credited to the minister of state for power.

In a statement signed by Anosike and made available to LEADERSHIP SUNDAY, he said Kuchi never made the statement.

Though he said he only made the remark bearing in mind the perceived jinx that seems to trail genuine efforts of successive government to improve power supply in the country.

He stated that, “I want to categorically inform the general public and individuals who have desired to create mischief out of this statement that the honourable minister, Hajia Zainab Kuchi never made this statement for which she has been painfully castigated”

Speaking further, he stated that, “I, as the deputy director/ head of media in the ministry was the person that made this statement and not the honorable minister of state for power.

It should also be noted that at the time this remake was made, during an interactive session with some South African investors, the honourable minister of state was only three weeks old in the ministry.
